High water, & herbicide update

Hi all, We’ve gotten 4.5 inches of rain here today and the lake is currently 6” above “normal” summer level and still rising. Those with docks that sit low to the water should check them asap if the boards aren’t fastened down. I had to let my boat bumpers down too and loosen my ropes a little. Mike

A new update: our second round of herbicide residue sampling results came back today, 6/20. The test results in North Bay are still elevated and beyond the acceptable level. Sampling results have lowered since the initial testing on 6/18. The results in North Cove are also above acceptable levels, likely due to the north winds blowing water into this area.

It is recommended not to use water for drinking or food preparation if you pull water from the lake. Irrigation, such as watering lawns, trees, shrubs, and plants is also not recommended.

For those who need it, water is available free of charge at Kampersville General Store.

Another round of water testing will take place early next week. We will keep you informed as soon as we learn the results.
